MTD

Recently I stumbled upon a "time machine," and visited the future. The world is still not changed much, and I fear the masses have become more distant from God. I spoke to a man by the name of Christian Smith who explained a relatively new fad amongst "religions" young men and women who view God as one who is not directly involved in their life except in times of desperation where they really need Him. This idea is preposterous when one truly views the majesty of God all around; they must be ignorant. Now that I think back on the event, they all must have thought that I was mad, my attire was certainly out dated. But their clothes were a bit silly too. And at least I am not the one begging God to make me unhealthily thin. Such prayers are hardly even desperate enough to be classified in this new theological idea. I have obviously returned to my day and year and I pray that in the future this world will see one who changes the world's thinking so that God is never put behind man anymore.

Scripture of My Life...

As you may already know, over the course of my life, I've been persuaded repeatedly to opposite ends of the spectrum that is faith in Christ. Men have lead me down roads of destruction, others pulled me to my feet and introduced me to the light. After much thought and consideration, alas I have discovered God's true love for me. I proudly display a plaque in my study at Olney that says, "Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honorable (Isa. 18:4), BUT Thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee (Deut. 15:15)." Two memorable scriptures that define me, remind me of my fallen nature, and remind me of God's mercy towards me. These verses ensure that I should never lose sight of my Father again, and I continue to live for Him. For my devout readers, I apologize for the lateness of this post, I recently found myself aiding a dear friend, you may have heard of, Wilberforce, He shares the same ambition towards the end of the slave trade as I do, and I have been supporting him in Parliament.

A Day In The Life Of (A Night, Perhaps.)

I woke again this morning in a cold sweat. Recently I have struggled with images from my youth. Nightmares of of my "servitude" to my black mistress. Never in my life had I once considered anyone or myself to regard myself as lower than a slave, but I repeatedly struggle with the hardships of my past including my illnesses, starvation... The slaves, they took pity on me. Their sweet souls snuck me food and made an amazing effort to deliver letters to my father. I was finally rescued of course, and this event is long since in the past, however it still haunts me. I remember the slave vessel and how men women and children were packed in tight and orderly "shelves" like books. The sickness I had for their suffering, and the sickness I had for the smell. It was like offal rotting in the back alley of the butcher shop. Oh Lord, ease my suffering, forgive me, and continue to bless me as I struggle with the sins of my past.
